I was really happy about Karolina’s arrival. I planned a few
tourist attractions I hadn't been on before.
One of the attractions was STORYTELLERS.
Amazing bicycle tour where you get to know the local flora
of Rarotonga.
Interesting taro plantations, beautiful plantations of pineapple and banana and many different fruit trees.
Our wonderful tour guide Jim Jim, stopped and showed us
a lot of plants used as medicines and others for use in the kitchen.
A month later, and with thanks to Jim Jim's tour knowledge I found our own raw
mushrooms in the garden, which Tyrone was pulling out already as he thought they were just weeds. But they are edible and tasty!
I also found a chilli tree In the garden with weeds covering most of it up.
This trip is not all about plants, but also history and
music.
One of the stops was at the ukulele workshop, where
passionate Natua, who is also a great ukulele player shared his work with us. If you want, there
is also the opportunity to carve one yourself, and then if you ask nicely, Natua can teach you how to play a few chords. Maybe I will start playing the ukulele instead of playing on Tyrone’s nerves. Although learning the ukulele will probably be just as nerve-racking...
I would love to go on the Storytellers tour again or maybe a few more times! Especially as I only went on the EXPLORE tour. The easiest is the DISCOVER tour and the hardest is the EXCITE. The difference between them is the level of riding skill and the length of
the tour.
Next time, I am really tempted to do the EXCITE tour, but if I
know myself, I will finish with some bumps and bruises next to a Raro pot hole on the side of the road.. ;)
I have also realised how much I miss riding a bicycle!

Ogromnie cieszyłam się na Karoliny przyjazd. Udało mi się zaplanować parę atrakcji turystycznych, w których także ja jeszcze nie brałam udziału.
Jedną z tych atrakcji turystycznych było STORYTELLERS.
Niesamowita wycieczka rowerowa, na której mieliśmy okazję bliżej poznać florę Rarotongi. Ciekawe plantacje taro, piękne plantacje ananasowe, bananowe i inne drzewa owocowe.
Nasz wspaniały lokalny przewodnik Gim Gim zatrzymywał się i pokazywał nam wiele roślin, które mają zastosowanie w gastronomii i medycynie.
Dzięki Gim Gim po jakimś miesiącu zorientowałam się, że mamy w ogrodzie surowe grzyby, których krzew Tyrone zaczął już wyrywać, myśląc, że to są jakieś chwasty.
Także znałazłam u nas chilii, które było porośnięte róznymi chwastami.
Wycieczka ta to nie tylko poznawanie roślin, ale także historia i muzyka.
Jednym z przystanków było odwiedzenie warsztatu ukulele, w którym Natua dzielił się swoją pasją do gry i robieniu ukulele. Także jest okazja do wyrzeźbienia swojego własnego ukulele a Natua z pewnością pokaże Ci jak na nim grać. Może zamiast grać na Tyrone’a nerwach, mogłabym na ukulele.
Oczywiście pyszny lunch jest w pakiecie.
Z chęcią wybiorę się jeszcze drugi i trzeci raz! Tym bardziej, że skorzystałam tylko z wycieczki typu EXPLORE. A jeszcze pozostaje ta najłatwiejsza typu DISCOVER i najtrudniejsza EXCITE. Różnią się one poziomem umiejętności jazdy na rowerze i długością jazdy. Może następnym razem skuszę się na EXCITE..choć znając swoje umiejętności skończę w pierwszym lepszym rowie ;)
Ta wycieczka także uświadomiła mi jak ja tęsknie za jazdą rowerem !
